What are we looking for? Circlepoint is seeking a full-time experienced, highly motivated and assertive Senior Associate Planner to join our Environmental Service Group (ESG) in one of our offices, Oakland, San Jose, or Orange. Circlepoint prides itself in providing our employees with vast opportunities for professional growth and development in an enjoyable work environment.

We are currently working on high-profile exciting projects in the State of California. Circlepoint’s ESG is molded on an integrated approach to public and private transportation and land use planning projects—environmental evaluation, design, and community outreach. We work closely with planning and design teams to identify environmental constraints early on, focus environmental documents on the important issues, and effectively involve stakeholders to build the support essential to bringing projects to fruition. We work with our clients, ensuring that we are providing a document that captures the correct components that will pave the way for success during and after the entitlement process.

What are the primary responsibilities? The Senior Associate Planner will play a supportive role to the Project Managers. This position will be responsible for overseeing complex technical sections of environmental documents, review products developed by other staff, direct research, and ensure delivery of complete, accurate documentation. This position also coordinates with subconsultants, clients, and vendors to maintain project schedule, share information between team members, and identify challenges or delays to elevate to the project management team.

The Senior Associate Environmental Planner position requires strong time management skills and the ability to work within the schedule and budget constraints for multiple ongoing projects. The position delivers excellent customer service to internal teams, vendors, and clients, and is accountable for quality and accuracy of information in work products. A strong understanding of CEQA fundamentals is required and some exposure to NEPA is preferred.

  • Experience: 3+ years direct experience preparing CEQA/NEPA documentation, environmental planning, or in a related field.
  • Education: At minimum, bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental studies, or related field. Experience in environmental studies, urban planning, technical writing, or an associated field.
  • Knowledge of California planning, environmental, and political issues and working knowledge of CEQA fundamentals and land use policy.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills and work within allocated budgets and time constraints.
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Ability to work within time and budget constraints
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) abilities
  • A focused, collaborative mindset with project team members within Circlepoint, as well as clients.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. and have a current driver’s license and access to personal transportation.

We are very interested in hearing from you.
